Abstract

Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among women worldwide, necessitating comprehensive, precise, and dynamic nursing care. This scoping review aims to map the current nursing diagnoses utilized in the care of patients with cervical cancer across various healthcare settings. A scoping review methodology was employed, adhering to the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) framework. A systematic literature search was conducted across databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and ScienceDirect, focusing on peer-reviewed articles published between 2019 and 2024. The results from the reviewed articles indicate that the most prevalent contemporary nursing diagnoses are associated with acute and chronic pain, risk for infection, imbalanced nutrition, severe anxiety, and sexual dysfunction. Furthermore, the analysis reveals a critical transition towards more holistic diagnoses that encompass psychosocial and spiritual distress, particularly in the advanced stages of the disease and during palliative care. In conclusion, the current nursing diagnoses for cervical cancer are highly multidimensional, requiring clinical nurses to address not only physiological symptoms but also profound psychosocial needs. It is highly recommended that healthcare institutions integrate standardized nursing terminologies and continuous educational programs to improve the accuracy of nursing diagnoses and ultimately enhance patient outcomes.
