The Contribution of Islamic Religious Education to the Digital Ethics of Adolescents

Abstract

Islamic education has great potential to shape the digital ethics of adolescents, especially in the present era which is increasingly influenced by technology. In Karangpring village, Sukorambi sub-district, Remaja often faces several challenges, such as the spread of incorrect information and cyberbullying, which contradict the principles of wisdom and goodness in Islamic teachings, such as trust, honesty, and empathy. This research aims to examine the contribution of Islamic education in shaping the digital ethics of young people by applying the values found in the Quran and Hadith in both formal and non-formal education programs, including learning activities for adolescents and religious propagation efforts. The approach applied in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data collection methods were advancing interviews, observation, and analysis of various documents related to the local Islamic education program. The research findings indicate that Islamic education makes a significant contribution by instilling principles such as prohibiting backbiting (spreading slander) and teaching the importance of doing good, which are applied in online behavior, making teenagers wiser in their internet usage. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the need to strengthen Islamic education programs that are more integrated with digital technology in order to prevent the moral decline of adolescents in the region, as a preventive measure against various social risks originating from the virtual world.
