Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Community Empowerment for Multidisciplinary (JCEMTY) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and publishing original scholarly work. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, and other forms of research misconduct are not acceptable.

1. Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening using appropriate similarity-checking software. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports to identify potential plagiarism, inadequate citation, inappropriate paraphrasing, and substantial overlap with previously published work.

JCEMTY recommends a maximum similarity index of 20%. This threshold is a screening guideline, not an automatic determination of plagiarism. Each report is assessed in context, considering properly cited quotations, references, common terminology, and other legitimate sources of similarity.

2. Authors' Responsibilities

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts:

  • Are original and have not been published previously.
  • Are not under consideration by another journal.
  • Properly acknowledge and cite all sources, ideas, data, and materials used.
  • Do not reproduce substantial portions of their own previously published work without appropriate citation and disclosure.
  • Obtain permission for copyrighted materials when required.

Authors are responsible for the originality and integrity of their submissions.

3. Types of Plagiarism

JCEMTY considers the following practices unacceptable:

  • Direct plagiarism: Using another person's words without appropriate quotation and citation.
  • Mosaic plagiarism: Combining material from multiple sources without proper attribution.
  • Plagiarism of ideas: Presenting another person's ideas, methods, or findings as one's own.
  • Self-plagiarism: Reusing previously published material without appropriate citation or disclosure, or republishing substantially overlapping work without justification.
  • Duplicate publication: Submitting or publishing substantially the same work in more than one publication without appropriate disclosure and editorial approval.

4. Editorial Actions

When potential plagiarism or inappropriate textual overlap is identified, the editorial team will assess the severity, extent, context, and evidence of the suspected misconduct.

  • Request clarification, correction, or proper citation from the authors.
  • Return the manuscript for substantial revision.
  • Reject the manuscript if serious plagiarism or unacceptable overlap is established.
  • Investigate suspected misconduct in accordance with applicable publication ethics standards.
  • Issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction for a published article when warranted.

Serious or repeated misconduct may result in additional editorial action.

5. Final Decision

The editorial board makes the final decision based on the similarity report, examination of the original sources, the authors' explanations where appropriate, and the seriousness of the identified issues. JCEMTY reserves the right to reject manuscripts or take appropriate post-publication action when plagiarism or other serious breaches of publication ethics are confirmed.
