Abstract

Cognitive decline is one of the common problems experienced by older adults and may affect memory, concentration, and the ability to perform daily activities. This community service activity aimed to optimize cognitive function among older adults through cognitive stimulation group activity therapy using origami paper folding activities at UPT PSTW Jember. The implementation method used a quasi-experimental approach with a one group pre-test and post-test design. The participants consisted of 7 older adults at Wisma Seruni UPT PSTW Jember selected using a total sampling technique. Cognitive function was measured using the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) instrument before and after the intervention. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon test with the assistance of SPSS version 24. The results showed an improvement in cognitive function among older adults after participating in origami folding group activity therapy with a significance value of p-value 0.014. Origami paper folding group activity therapy can be used as a simple, applicable, and effective non-pharmacological intervention to support cognitive function optimization and enhance social engagement among older adults.
