Authorship and Contributorship
The Journal of Community Empowerment for Multidisciplinary (JCEMTY) is committed to transparent, fair, and accountable authorship practices. Authorship must reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the work and responsibility for its integrity.
- Authorship Criteria
All authors must meet the following criteria:
- Make a substantial contribution to the conception, design, implementation, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of the work.
- Draft the manuscript or critically revise it for important intellectual content.
- Approve the final version of the manuscript.
- Accept accountability for their contributions and the integrity of the work.
Individuals who do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately rather than listed as authors.
- Author Contributions (CRediT)
JCEMTY uses the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to identify individual contributions. Authors must provide an Author Contributions statement specifying the roles performed by each author. The applicable CRediT roles include:
- Conceptualization
- Data curation
- Formal analysis
- Funding acquisition
- Investigation
- Methodology
- Project administration
- Resources
- Software
- Supervision
- Validation
- Visualization
- Writing – original draft
- Writing – review & editing
Authors should report only contributions that accurately reflect the work performed. Multiple authors may share the same role.
Example:
Author Contributions (CRediT): Author A: Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Writing – original draft. Author B: Formal analysis, Data curation, Visualization, Writing – review & editing. Author C: Supervision, Project administration, Writing – review & editing. All authors approved the final manuscript and agree to be accountable for their contributions.
- Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office, coordinating manuscript submission and revisions, and ensuring that all authors approve the submitted and final versions. The corresponding author must confirm that the author list and contribution statements are accurate and agreed upon by all co-authors.
- Author Order and Changes
Authors must agree on the author order before submission. The order should reflect the contributions made and relevant disciplinary conventions.
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be submitted to the editorial office with a written justification and written agreement from all affected authors. All changes are subject to editorial approval.
- Acknowledgments
Individuals who provide technical assistance, administrative support, funding, or other contributions that do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged with their permission.
Participation in a community empowerment activity does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship. However, community members and local partners who meet all authorship criteria must receive appropriate recognition as authors.
- Authorship Integrity
JCEMTY does not permit:
- Gift authorship: Listing individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria.
- Ghost authorship: Excluding individuals who qualify for authorship or concealing substantial contributions.
- Coercive authorship: Requiring authorship without qualifying contributions.
- False contribution statements: Misrepresenting individual contributions.
Suspected authorship misconduct may result in manuscript rejection, further investigation, or appropriate post-publication action.
- Artificial Intelligence and Authorship
AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot accept responsibility for the work or fulfill authorship requirements. Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in accordance with the journal's AI policy. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, proper attribution, and integrity of all submitted content.
- Authorship Disputes
Authorship disputes should be reported to the editorial office. JCEMTY may request supporting documentation and written explanations from the parties involved. If a dispute cannot be resolved by the authors, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution or research integrity authority. Editorial action will be based on the available evidence and applicable publication ethics standards.
- Policy Compliance
By submitting a manuscript to JCEMTY, all authors confirm that the author list and contribution statements are accurate, that all listed authors have approved the submission, and that they agree to comply with this policy.
