Abstract

The first 1,000 days of life are critical for child growth and development. Inappropriate complementary feeding practices, particularly early introduction, remain a challenge due to cultural influences and limited family knowledge. This community service activity aimed to improve maternal knowledge and preparedness for appropriate complementary feeding to prevent stunting. A case report approach was applied using a community midwifery care management framework. The participant was the family of Infant A, a three-month-old girl living in the working area of Pasar Minggu Community Health Center. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, clinical observation, and anthropometric measurements. The intervention used Communication, Information, and Education (CIE) covering exclusive breastfeeding, the risks of early complementary feeding, four principles of appropriate complementary feeding, and signs of infant readiness. Evaluation indicated improved maternal understanding of infant nutrition. The mother could explain the principles of appropriate complementary feeding and committed to exclusive breastfeeding until the infant reached six months. Early education on complementary feeding preparation can strengthen maternal health literacy and support family-based stunting prevention.
